Historical Tour with Ahmed
Join Ahmed on a captivating historical tour through the heart of Marrakech, where centuries of culture and heritage come alive.
1. Jemaa El-Fna Square
We begin at the vibrant Jemaa El-Fna, the beating heart of the city. By day, it’s filled with juice vendors, traditional storytellers, musicians, and henna artists. By night, it transforms into an open-air food market buzzing with energy, where the aroma of grilled meats and Moroccan spices fills the air.
2. The Koutoubia Mosque Surroundings
Just a short walk away, we explore the surroundings of the majestic Koutoubia Mosque, the largest mosque in Marrakech. Though non-Muslims cannot enter, its 77-meter-high minaret is a city landmark and a masterpiece of Almohad architecture, visible from miles around.
3. The Kasbah District
Next, we stroll through the Kasbah, an old fortified area that once housed royalty and elite guards. Here, you can admire the grand Bab Agnaou Gate, built in the 12th century, and feel the echoes of ancient dynasties in the narrow alleyways.
4. The Jewish Quarter (Mellah)
Ahmed then guides us into the historic Mellah, the old Jewish quarter of Marrakech. This area is rich with history, including a centuries-old synagogue and a Jewish cemetery. The Mellah is also known for its traditional spice shops and local artisans.
5. The Bahia Palace
Finally, we visit the stunning Bahia Palace, a 19th-century masterpiece of Moroccan architecture. With its lush gardens, intricate tile work, and carved wooden ceilings, the palace tells stories of the viziers and nobles who once lived here.
